BARONESS: A HORSE CALLED GOLGOTHA

Impressive. Baroness is a band that I have had my doubts about. I picked up their "Red Album" and I was not impressed. And now their latest release "Blue Record" is out, and I'm been considering picking it up for a while now due to rave reviews. After hearing "A Horse Called Golgotha", I know I need to get this album right away. Frightening and catchy prog/punk...somewhere between Mastadon and Fugazi. Check it out. Amazing video as well.

MASTADON "DIVINATIONS"

If you want to hear "Divinations", the first track to be made available from Mastadon's yet to be released, highly anticipated new album "Crack the Skye", click here. It's the first track on their player. I like what I hear so far...very King Crimson and Coroner inluenced, with a lot more melody in the vocals than previous works. Slightly more accessible, yet still heavy. Check it out.

Awaiting Mastadon's "Crack the Skye"...

Early this year, Mastadon, an incredible, insanely heavy prog-metal band will be releasing their new album, "Crack the Skye". It is going to be a concept album of sorts about Czarist Russia. There is a track-by-track review that just came out today and you can read it here. I can't wait. In the meantime, their previous two classics "Leviathan" and "Blood Mountain" will have to suffice.
