Witchcraft: Attention!

A Couple of Cool Finds...
Here's a few cinematic horrors I managed to pick up for 5 bucks each the other day. BLACULA paired with SCREAM BLACULA SCREAM on one DVD. On the next one, BLACKENSTEIN!!

Fu Manchu: Hotdoggin'
Superbly heavy desert stoner rock from California. I love Fu Manchu, but it took a while for their 2000 "King of the Road" album to grow on me, but grow on me it did. Too much. Hell, give me a Boogie Van so I can drive like Hell on Wheels. I'm King of the Road you know, Over the Edge and I've got a Weird Beard...gotta get to California. And don't tell me No Dice....I'll get Blue Tile Fever and have to break out the Grasschopper on ya...
Captain Beyond: Frozen Over
An excellent example of unpretentious, heavy psych prog rock. Captain Beyond's energy and creativity was out of control. Just give their 1971 self-titled debut album a listen. If you are into Monster Magnet, take note. Besides the obvious Black Sabbath and Hawkwind influences, Captain Beyond is part of the backbone of Monster Magnet's sound. Here's "Frozen Over" for your aural pleasure.
Chrome: Magnetic Dwarf Reptile
Brilliant cut-up/garage/pysch/sci-fi punk from the late 1970's. Some very early Chrome, from the album "Alien Soundtracks". Here's "Magnetic Dwarf Reptile". Warped indeed.
Pentagram: Frustration
Here's some super heavy 1980's psych-doom..."Frustration" by Pentagram. From their album "Be Forewarned".
Chrome: Artificial Human
Here's a track from 1997....when Helios Creed briefly reformed Chrome after Damon Edge's (the long defunct band's co-founder) death. The album is "Retro Transmission", a brilliant work, one of Chrome's and Helios Creed's best. The song..."Artificial Human". As cold as the depths of space....untouchable.
The Stooges: Dirt
Here's a track from The Stooges 1970 album "Funhouse". An incredible album...slightly understated. Not quite as in your face as their 1969 debut or their 1973 follow-up "Raw Power". Impressive, nonetheless. You have to let "Funhouse" grow on you a bit. Here's "Dirt" for your enjoyment. Everyone should have a copy of this album in their collection.
Lowrider: Riding Shotgun
Top-notch stoner metal from Sweden. They only put out one album, "Ode to Io". It's well worth checking out. Here's "Riding Shotgun", one of my favorite tracks.

Mind-blowingly heavy doom here. So fuzzed out and low-end heavy it will threaten to blow your speakers. Perfect...pure molten lava psych metal. It's from their 1996 album "Come My Fanatics". Well worth the risky hearing and neurological damage that it may cause. Highly recommended. Here's "Return Trip".

SAINT VITUS: FEAR
Although I am partial to the Wino-era Saint Vitus, this song has become lodged in my brain for some reason. It's from 1992, from their "Children of Doom" album. Christian Linderrson is on vocals. No Wino by far, but impressive nonetheless. What a crushing riff! Masterful psych/doom. Going to have to give some of the post-Wino Saint Vitus a better chance. Here it is...."Fear".
BARONESS: A HORSE CALLED GOLGOTHA
Impressive. Baroness is a band that I have had my doubts about. I picked up their "Red Album" and I was not impressed. And now their latest release "Blue Record" is out, and I'm been considering picking it up for a while now due to rave reviews. After hearing "A Horse Called Golgotha", I know I need to get this album right away. Frightening and catchy prog/punk...somewhere between Mastadon and Fugazi. Check it out. Amazing video as well.
NUAGE FRACTAL
A strangely beautiful and disturbing song from Voivod's 1991 album "Angel Rat". Highly underrated. A review is coming soon for this album, but for the meantime, here's "Nuage Fractal". Enjoy.

Kiss to the Brain...
Here's a "Kiss to the Brain" from Helios Creed....extremely warped space rock. I highly suggest you pick this album up. Not quite as good as "Lactating Purple" but from the same time period (early 1990's). Here's the first track, "XL-35", one of my all time favorite Helios songs. Enjoy.

Joe Meek: I Hear a New World
Here's a little Joe Meek. Warped, twisted, and sick, the ultimate song to ring in a new decade. Too bad I could not find a full version of this song, so I guess a minute or so will have to do. Nauseating, demented, psych/futuristic reggae. Joe Meek was a genius. More on him soon.
